Surrender - Bet Protection

If you are a blackjack player you have to understand the power of surrender. This is considered one of the most powerful weapons that you can have in the game of blackjack. One of the interesting things that you will definitely need to know about surrender is that casinos will rarely ever get to advertise it or even give it a chance at promotion. The main reason for this is that surrender is a powerful tool that gives you an advantage in the game whenever you are playing. So what really is this surrender that we talk about all the time?

As soon as your first two cards have been dealt, you can tell the dealer that you surrender. This is pretty much a playing option that you can exercise and you will be able to receive half your bet. Take an example when you have dealt a 10 and a 6 and the dealer has dealt 10 you can decide to take the surrender and the dealer will be obligated to give back half of what you have bet. There are of course different kinds of surrender that are available that we have to understand.

Early and Late Surrender

The early surrender is a situation whereby you get to surrender before the dealer gets the chance to check for blackjack. This is usually when the card that the dealer has on top is either an ace or a 10. The other kind of surrender that we should take note of is the late surrender. Late surrender happens in the event that you wait until the dealer has checked for blackjack and it is from then that you surrender.

It is important to note that the early surrender is a better position for you to be in as compared to the late surrender. This is because you are at an advantage of getting half of your bet back even if the dealer has pulled a blackjack. This leaves you in a very good position to benefit from the game, and it also explains why there are no casinos that can easily offer the early surrender to the players. On the other hand, the late surrender is a very common one that you will come across from time to time. However, it will still be so hard for you to find it in the table rules for any game you are playing.

Before you get to play therefore try and make sure that you can get information from the dealer on whether or not you are able to surrender. Apart from that there are some casinos that usually have tables specifically that offer surrender while there are others that do not offer this position. Most of the tables if not all where the cards are usually dealt straight from the hand of the dealer will not offer this option to the players. On the other hand, if the cards are either dealt from a continuous shuffling machine or from a shoe, it might be possible for you to get this offer.
